Second Place Artist: Nick Bocchino. I personally laughed
for about an hour at "mmm... snake- -food!"
My inpsiration for this work is drawn from many rich sources. Firstly, I was inspired by Andrei's "I Want Pita Bread" drawing. Simple, yet hilarious. I wanted to create a similar scene. The Pita, in my scene, is full of lettuce, like many Pitas really are in real life. It is a hungry Pita, and it has a fever. And the only prescription is... more snake-food. The jet-pack and baby fridge were also inspired by Andrei's contest prompt. And the "byeh, byeh, byeh" is inpsired by the one and only Mr. Mcnally, the legendary substitute teacher from Georgetown High that has been working there since the Stone Age... no wait, it was the Ice Age! .... no, actually it was the Stone Age.
I think that my drawing should be chosen because it represents a funny-ass scene in space. Who doesn't want to see a hungry Pita who needs his fix of snake. And more specifically, a snake who warms up his singing voice like Mr. McNally! And the baby flying through the air in a fridge is just great.
